Hastings Table Company and Barry County History in Old Postcards

More than once someone has called the library from out of state having just bought an antique table manufactured by the Hastings Table Company (example of Hastings Table with Tyden locking mechanism on left.) Up until now I haven't had much information to offer them. Then while looking at the Wikipedia entry for Hastings, MI I came across Debra J. Barlow's postcard collection. A couple of slides into the Hastings business postcards there was Hastings Table Company in all its glory. Nothing more at this point. But it's a start.

After a very difficult year of near closure with COVID-19, we closed the Wing House Museum and commenced multiple repair and restoration projects this winter. While disassembling our large dining room table we found very old labels on the underside of the two halves of the table top. The labels identified the table, which seats approximately 14-16 people, as being manufactured by the HASTINGS TABLE COMPANY. It bears the number "No. 591". It also includes the name above the Hastings Table Company name of "W. B. Tuttle". This piece is in our inventory as an original furniture item of the Wing family. That should equal a date in the late 1800s. Any information on when the table company was in production, or other information of interest about the company.

I also own a 48 inch Tiger Oak Round claw foot dining table with 4 leaves manufactured by the Hasting Table Company. It has the labels identified and it bears the number No 476. It also has a split pedestal leg that adds support when fully extended. Does anyone have information concerning this table. I would like to sell.

We have a Hastings Table Company Dining Room Table Set and Buffet, sold in Fresno, CA probably early 1900's. This set was inherited with the house, and we are simply curious about it, for conversation more than anything. We are not interested in finding out its value or in selling it, and are uncomfortable sending pics to antiques dealers, etc. We have scoured the internet and are not seeing anything like what we have. We DID see a "Design Book" referenced in one of the Hastings Table Company advertisements on the web, but can not find anything more on such a Design Book. We assume it was a catalog of sorts. There is an entry for the company under Trade Catalogs in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, but I am unsure of what I'm looking at on their website. With Hastings having such history, surely SOMEone must have a collection of information on this company and its furniture... In their basement or barn perhaps? Seems like this would be a good source of information for others too, based on previous posts. Maybe someone could write a book! Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Hastings Table Co. lion head quarter-sawn oak table (round) w two leaves circa 1900. I would simply love to know what the intended chairs looked like for this table so that I can match something close. If anyone knows, please respond! :)
